In a statement personally signed by the President on Thursday, Tinubu described Adeniyi, chairman of the editorial board of ThisDay newspapers, as one of Nigeria’s most influential columnists who has set the pace for disciplined and informed national conversations.
“Turning 60 is an important milestone. I join your friends and family to celebrate you on this special day,” the President said.
He commended Adeniyi for his years of professionalism and integrity, noting that his works have provided a voice and conscience for many Nigerians through his “dispassionate treatises on developments in our nation.”
The President also lauded Adeniyi’s public service record, particularly his role as spokesman to the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, where he said the journalist “acquitted himself well.”
Tinubu praised Adeniyi’s brilliance and excellence, describing him as “one of our nation’s prolific chroniclers,” and emphasizing his valuable contributions to the growth of journalism and scholarship in Nigeria.
“As you celebrate your diamond jubilee, I pray that God Almighty will grant you many more years of good health,” the President added.
