President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on the 30th anniversary of his ascension to the throne, and Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, Chairman of the Governing Council of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), on his 65th birthday.
In separate statements issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President lauded both distinguished sons of Kwara State for their contributions to Nigeria’s growth and stability.
President Tinubu praised Emir Sulu-Gambari for his visionary leadership, integrity, and commitment to peace and development in Ilorin over the past three decades. He noted that the monarch’s reign has brought stability and progress to the city and beyond through partnerships with successive administrations in Kwara State.
Describing the Emir as a man of “honour and dignity,” the President commended his service to the nation as Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, and his distinguished career in the judiciary, particularly as a Justice of the Court of Appeal.
“During our agitation for democracy when the military was hounding me, I benefited greatly from Dr Sulu-Gambari’s boldness in dispensing justice, for which I remain eternally thankful,” President Tinubu said. He wished the Emir many more years of service in good health.
Similarly, the President congratulated Senator Oloriegbe on attaining the age of 65, hailing his outstanding record as a legislator and medical professional.
Tinubu acknowledged the former lawmaker’s role in advancing health reforms, especially during his tenure as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and the National Assembly Joint Committee on Health.
“Senator Oloriegbe is a progressive who has done a lot for Kwara and Nigeria,” Tinubu said. “In his four years in the Senate, he sponsored many bills, some of which became laws that have positively transformed Nigeria’s health sector.
