The Permanent Secretary of the State House, Temitope Peter Fashedemi, has urged staff to recommit themselves to professionalism and efficient service delivery as the institution rolls out new performance management reforms.
Fashedemi made the call in Abuja after signing a Performance Contract with directors across State House departments at the closing session of a three-day Management and Ministerial Performance Management System (MPMS) Retreat.
The retreat, themed “Building a Responsive and High-Performance Workforce Through Innovation and Teamwork,” is part of broader reforms underway in the Federal Civil Service aimed at strengthening accountability and improving productivity.
Speaking with journalists, the Permanent Secretary stressed that the performance contract represents a binding commitment rather than a symbolic gesture. He explained that the initiative clarifies responsibilities, sets measurable targets, and aligns staff duties with supervisors’ expectations.
“This is part of the reforms ongoing in the Federal Civil Service,” he said. “The State House is only doing its part to ensure that our performance is measured. Staff at all levels have clear targets of what is expected of them.”
Fashedemi noted that the retreat helped sensitise and train staff on the Performance Management System, emphasising that it is designed to make work more structured and efficient rather than burdensome. At the end of each evaluation cycle, supervisors and staff will jointly review progress on assigned tasks.
He added that the contract supports President Bola Tinubu’s vision of a more productive and responsive public sector, describing it as “a solemn pledge” that enhances accountability.
“We must collectively embrace a culture of efficiency, integrity, and timely delivery,” he said.
