Social media influencer and fashion enthusiast Sophia Momodu addressed recent false claims circulating online about her daughter, Imade Adeleke, whom she shares with musician Davido, in a statement released on Wednesday, November 26.
Earlier reports noted that Sophia had responded to fans questioning why Imade was absent from Davido’s 33rd birthday celebration in Atlanta, USA. She admitted that her initial reply was fueled by emotion but emphasized her duty to defend her child.
“Social media plays a huge role in our daily lives, but unfortunately, it also spreads misinformation. One Sunday morning, I came across numerous posts targeting my beautiful daughter, painting a false picture of her well-being. As a protective mother, I reacted emotionally at first, but I knew I had to stand up for her,” Sophia said.
Describing Imade as a happy, healthy, and well-balanced child, Sophia revealed that she has been her primary caregiver for the past five years. She has been responsible for all of Imade’s expenses except for her school fees, which her paternal grandfather, Adedeji Adeleke, has covered for the last three years.
Despite not receiving child support from Davido, Sophia assured that her daughter’s needs have always been met.
“To highlight my dedication to my daughter’s welfare, I have been her main caregiver for the past five years. I’ve taken care of all her expenses, aside from school fees, which her grandfather has supported for three years. Although I have not received any child support from her father, our daughter has never experienced want,” she explained.
Sophia also shared that she has forgiven all past child support obligations and given up any claims for the future.
“In reaffirming my commitment to her happiness, I recently waived all outstanding child support payments and gave up any future claims. This leaves me fully responsible for her financial needs, which is a positive arrangement for everyone involved,” she said.
She added that Davido has never been denied access to Imade, stressing that her focus has always been on the child’s safety and maintaining a structured routine.
“Moving forward, I respectfully ask that my innocent daughter not be included in false stories or misleading narratives,” Sophia concluded.
