A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged the service chiefs to take urgent and decisive action to protect Nigerians as insecurity continues to claim lives across the country.
Speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Osogbo, the former lawmaker described the recent killings and abductions in Kwara, Kebbi, Niger and other states as unbearable, noting that the situation had thrown families into distress and made the country appear largely unsafe.
Oyintiloye appealed to the service chiefs to do everything within their power to rescue abducted children and halt the senseless killings by terrorists nationwide.
He lamented that many communities had become desolate due to mass displacement and killings, adding that parents and families were in devastation over recurring violence and mass abductions, especially of schoolchildren.
The APC chieftain asserted that the spate of killings and abductions of schoolchildren in recent days called for renewed concern and a change in security operational strategies. “If it means the service chiefs changing their operational tactics to get things right, they should do so without hesitation because Nigeria is bleeding and time is running out,” he said.
He also urged President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to discreetly identify and prosecute those sabotaging military efforts in the fight against terrorism.
Oyintiloye stressed that Nigeria has the capacity to win the war against terrorism with the support of all stakeholders and the elimination of saboteurs within the system.
