First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called for a stronger national commitment to safeguarding and empowering children, urging Nigerians to ensure that every child grows up “with hope, confidence, and the freedom to reach their full potential”.
In her message commemorating World Children’s Day 2025, marked globally on 20 November, the First Lady aligned with this year’s theme, “Listen to Children: My Day, My Rights”, developed by UNICEF.
She stressed the importance of giving children genuine platforms to express their thoughts, experiences, and aspirations, noting that respecting and protecting their rights remains central to building a just and compassionate society.
Tinubu said children are not only future leaders but also active contributors to national development today, adding that listening to them provides valuable insight for creating a safer and more inclusive society.
Reaffirming her commitment, she urged parents, communities, and institutions to prioritise the welfare and empowerment of young people.
“Let us reaffirm our collective duty to protect and empower every Nigerian child, ensuring that they grow up with hope, confidence, and the freedom to reach their full potential,” she said.
