  • Ezra Olubi, the Co-founder and CTO of Paystack, has reportedly been suspended after a series of highly controversial and explicit old tweets, some dating back to 2010, resurfaced online.
  • The disturbing posts contained misogynistic and inappropriate content, including references to minors and crude sexual remarks, which led to widespread condemnation and coincided with a public demand for his arrest by Patricia founder Hanu.
  • Though Paystack has not issued an official statement, the suspension is seen as the company’s swift action to distance itself from the toxic comments.

Ezra Olubi, the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the African fintech giant Paystack, has reportedly been suspended following the viral circulation of several highly disturbing and controversial old posts from his personal X (formerly Twitter) account.

The suspension comes after a series of screenshots showing Olubi’s past tweets some dating back as far as 2010 were widely circulated, drawing intense criticism and public scrutiny.

The posts contained references to highly inappropriate, misogynistic, and sexually explicit content, including remarks about minors, sexual health, and women.

While Paystack and its parent company, Stripe, have not yet issued an official public statement confirming the suspension, sources familiar with the matter indicate that the company took swift action in response to the public outcry and the severity of the historical posts.

The alleged suspension signals a move to distance the company from the toxic nature of the comments and address the widespread public and media condemnation.
