Olaopa gave the commendation on Thursday during his visit to the Bwari CBT centre of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja, where he was received by the Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the exercise, describing it as a major milestone and the first of its kind in the conduct of promotion examinations in the civil service. According to him, the FCSC had met its target for the exercise.
Olaopa said the success recorded would be built upon, adding that the CBT system would be decentralised and extended to other parts of the country to make participation easier. He also promised further improvements in subsequent examinations.
While addressing candidates at the centre, the FCSC chairman said the civil service was being strengthened daily through reforms and innovation. He thanked JAMB for supporting the commission’s transition to the CBT model, noting that contracting it out would have been more expensive.
Olaopa, however, expressed concern over the ordeal of some civil servants who faced security challenges while travelling to Abuja for the examination, assuring that such issues would be addressed in future arrangements.
He disclosed that over 6,000 candidates, including those at the directorate level, are taking part in the ongoing exercise.
In his remarks, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Oloyede, urged candidates not to panic about the CBT, explaining that the system was designed to automatically submit their answers if they failed to do so. The examination, which began on November 12, will end on November 19, with the foreign leg holding in the U.S., U.K., India, and Egypt.
