President Bola Tinubu says his administration’s sweeping economic reforms are deliberately designed to empower Nigerian youths and prepare them for global competitiveness.
Speaking on Monday during a meeting with the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, at the State House in Abuja, the president stressed that young people are at the centre of the nation’s economic repositioning.
“Our reforms are about growth and prosperity for the nation,” Tinubu said. “They take into full consideration our demographics and the need for skills development. We must strengthen the economy for our youths.”
He highlighted key initiatives such as the Special Education Loan Fund, which aims to ensure no Nigerian student drops out due to financial challenges. The president also pointed to major infrastructure projects — including a nationwide fibre-optic rollout — as part of efforts to deepen youth inclusion in the digital economy.
Tinubu noted that the administration is achieving progress on security and praised humanitarian partners assisting victims of terrorism.
Prince Edward, who chairs the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, commended the president’s reforms and said they have attracted positive global attention. He revealed that 320 Nigerian youths will be honoured at the foundation’s award ceremonies in Lagos this week.
