The senator representing Kwara Central, Salisu Mustapha, has expressed grave concern over the recent attack in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing the incident as “deeply troubling and strongly condemnable.”
In a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, the lawmaker extended condolences to the victims, their families, the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), and the wider Eruku community affected by the attack.
He urged security agencies to strengthen their presence in the area and take all necessary measures to protect lives and property, emphasising that the safety and stability of communities must remain a top priority.
Senator Salisu also acknowledged the efforts of both the federal and state governments in improving security across Kwara State and encouraged continued collaboration among stakeholders to address these challenges effectively.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Eruku during this difficult time,” he added.
On Tuesday evening, suspected bandits stormed the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku. The gunmen opened fire during a service, killing at least three worshippers.
Several people, including the pastor and other congregants, were reportedly abducted and taken into nearby bush paths.
Western Post reported that Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has called for urgent and increased security deployment to halt the recent wave of attacks.
