President Bola Tinubu says he is “deeply saddened” by the recent terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of Nigerian soldiers and led to the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
In a statement on Tuesday, Tinubu mourned the troops killed in the assault, including Brigadier General Musa Uba, describing them as heroes who died in active service. He prayed for comfort for their families.
He also condemned the kidnapping of schoolgirls, calling it a heartless disruption of the education of innocent children. The President said he had directed security agencies to act swiftly to ensure the safe return of the abducted students.
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening national security and protecting citizens across the country.
The president had dispatched Vice President Kashim Shettima to Kebbi State to commiserate with the government and people of the state following the recent attacks.
In a related development, armed insurgents ambushed security personnel, resulting in the deaths of several soldiers, including senior officers, during operations in the North-West.
In a separate incident, terrorists attacked a school community in Kebbi and abducted a number of schoolgirls, disrupting academic activities and heightening security concerns in the region. The attacks have drawn nationwide outrage and renewed calls for stronger action against insurgency and criminal networks.
