The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has issued a stern warning to residents against harbouring criminals in their homes or communities, insisting that any property found to be used as a criminal hideout will be demolished.
He also declared that the state has become a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging full support for the party’s candidates ahead of upcoming elections.
Eno gave the warning on Saturday during the Government House Monthly Prayer Service held at The Latter House Chapel.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to maintaining Akwa Ibom’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful and secure states.
“Please let our people be aware of this: if you are using your house to keep criminals and you get caught, we will demolish that house,” he said, emphasizing that no individual or group would be allowed to compromise the peace enjoyed in the state.
The governor also highlighted critical areas requiring urgent government intervention, including the flood-prone Aka Itiam Street. He explained that the rainy season had slowed construction efforts, particularly on roads, but assured residents that work would accelerate as the dry season approaches.
Governor Eno urged residents to continue supporting the government in its efforts to fully implement the ARISE Agenda, stressing that prayers and cooperation remain vital to the state’s progress.
During the service, the governor inaugurated Rev. Enobong Ibok of Eyak Ibong Akam Outreach Ministry as the new leader of the Government House Prayer Team.
He directed that the team be composed of committed Christians dedicated to interceding for the state and its leaders.
