Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has joined family, friends, associates, and the people of Ilorin, Kwara State, and Nigeria in mourning the passing of Major General Abdullahi Adangba, describing him as a fine soldier, administrator, and community leader.
The retired General died at the age of 86.
In a condolence message issued on Wednesday in Ilorin by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq said General Adangba’s death was a huge loss not only to the Ilorin Emirate but also to the entire nation.
He described the late General as a distinguished patriot whose service to Nigeria spanned decades of dedicated military and national leadership.
According to the statement, General Adangba had an illustrious career in the Nigerian Army and held several strategic positions, including Military Governor of Benue-Plateau State, Director General of the defunct National Security Organization (NSO), National Security Adviser to former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Chief of Staff to former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umar Musa Yar’Adua, among other senior roles.
Governor AbdulRazaq noted that the late General’s life represented courage, discipline, and selfless service, describing his passing as “a painful closure of a bright chapter in Nigeria’s political and military history.”
He extended his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the people of the Ilorin Emirate, the family of the deceased, and the Nigerian military hierarchy.
The Governor prayed to Allah to grant the departed General eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
