Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has called for urgent and increased security deployment to Ekiti Local Government Area, particularly the Eruku axis, to halt the recent wave of attacks.
The call was made in a statement signed on Wednesday in Ilorin by the governor’s chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
Governor AbdulRazaq condemned the brutal attack, expressing sympathy with the people of Eruku and its environs, especially the families and the CAC directly affected by Tuesday’s incident. He urged that the deployment of additional security operatives be carried out immediately to bolster the existing security framework.
“The governor has sought the immediate deployment of more security operatives to support the current security architecture in the area. He remains committed to supporting security agencies in addressing these challenges and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state,” the statement said.
The governor also praised President Bola Tinubu for deploying 900 additional troops to Kwara, noting that the move is expected to strengthen security in the state.
“We have already observed appreciable calm in many areas previously affected. We sincerely thank the president for this. We are confident that the additional troops will provide further deterrence, enhance overall safety for our people, and ensure lasting peace,” he added.
