Tension remains high in Kebbi State after armed bandits abducted dozens of students from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area at around 04:00 local time on Monday.
According to reports, the attackers exchanged gunfire with police officers before climbing the perimeter fence and kidnapping students from their hostel.
One staff member was killed while attempting to protect the students, and another was wounded by gunfire and is currently hospitalised.
The incident is the latest in a series of school kidnappings targeting rural communities in northern Nigeria, a trend that has persisted despite increased security deployments.
