Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 Kaduna State election, Isa Ashiru, has revealed that his Abuja residence was completely destroyed by fire.
Ashiru, who also previously represented the Makarfi/Kudan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, announced the incident on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday night, expressing gratitude that no life was lost.
“My Abuja home was completely lost to a fire yesterday, but I’m deeply grateful that no life was harmed,” he wrote. “Moments like this remind us of the temporary nature of worldly possessions and the perfection of Allah’s plan.”
He called on Nigerians to remember his family in their prayers, adding: “Please keep my family in your prayers. Alhamdulillah at all times.”
In the 18 March 2023 Kaduna gubernatorial election, Ashiru’s PDP received 719,196 votes, losing to his main opponent, Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who won with 730,002 votes.
