Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court, sitting in Ibadan, has again adjourned the hearing of the Motion on Notice filed by Folahan Malomo Adelabi against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), its Acting National Chairman, and others, till Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The adjournment came under tight security as journalists were barred from covering Monday’s proceedings.
The court had, last week, ruled on an ex-parte motion permitting the PDP to proceed with its scheduled National Convention in Ibadan while fixing November 10, 2025, for the hearing of the Motion on Notice.
However, after hearing submissions from counsel to both parties on Monday, Justice Akintola directed all sides to file and exchange their processes to ensure an effective commencement of the substantive hearing.
He consequently adjourned the matter to Wednesday for the consideration of all pending applications before the court.
The claimant, Folahan Malomo Adelabi, is seeking an order restraining the defendants including Acting National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum; the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (for himself and members of the National Convention Organising Committee); and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from taking any action that could truncate or frustrate the conduct of the party’s planned national convention.
The court had earlier directed the PDP leadership to adhere strictly to the guidelines, timetable, and schedule of activities earlier issued for the convention.
Meanwhile, journalists who arrived to cover Monday’s proceedings were denied access to the courtroom, as security operatives were stationed at strategic points within the court premises, preventing members of the press from gaining entry a development that heightened speculation about the sensitivity of the case.
