Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged women to embrace the fear of God as the foundation for greatness, honour, and lasting recognition.
The governor gave the charge while addressing participants at the 2025 Healing Service of the Women International Convention of the Gospel Foundation Mission (GFM), held in Etinan.
He noted that true greatness for women is not determined by wealth, beauty, or social status, but by a heart devoted to God.
“Every woman here today, because you fear God, you are a woman of honour in His sight. It is not by wealth or beauty—those are deceitful. The world may recognize and honour people for their riches and titles, but God’s ways are different,” Governor Eno said.
He commended the founder of the Gospel Foundation Mission, Dr. Enobong Essien, for exemplifying godly leadership and serving as a role model to women of faith. The governor added that while human praise is fleeting, divine recognition endures across generations, expressing confidence that God will continue to raise men and women of honour in the state.
Earlier in her remarks, Bishop (Mrs.) Enobong Essien, who is also the governor’s spiritual mother, expressed gratitude to God for sustaining her ministry and the widows’ foundation for over 25 years. She said the organization had positively transformed the lives of many widows to the glory of God.
Bishop Essien also appreciated Governor Eno and past leaders of the state for their support and contributions to her ministry and humanitarian initiatives.
