China has said it rejects coercive diplomacy, including sanctions and threats of force, and any kind of external meddling in the domestic affairs of sovereign nations under the guise of religion or human rights.
The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, stated this when he met Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
He underscored China’s opposition to any form of external interference in the internal affairs of sovereign nations, stressing that China is prepared to increase defence and security cooperation with Nigeria, especially in the battle against terrorism and the advancement of domestic stability.
The Chinese envoy reiterated China’s unwavering commitment to enhancing its partnership with Nigeria and upholding the nation’s sovereign right to define its own developmental trajectory.
The Ambassador noted that following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s participation in the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China–Africa Collaboration and his following state visit to China, bilateral ties have entered a new chapter of practical, results-orientated collaboration.
He pointed out that collaborative efforts in several important areas are already producing noticeable results, boosting livelihoods and propelling Nigeria’s economic expansion.
The ambassador underlined China’s unwavering support for Nigeria’s sovereignty and its right to pursue development policies in line with national goals and realities while restating China’s position as a comprehensive strategic partner.
To promote peace, security, and sustainable development based on respect, common interests, and non-interference, he reaffirmed China’s commitment to collaborating closely with Nigeria.
