Kwara State governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) has announced the release of 38 abductees seized during the recent attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti LGA, praising President Bola Tinubu for the decisive federal intervention that made their freedom possible.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said the successful rescue was a direct outcome of the president’s hands-on support and swift directives following the incident.
The governor noted that the abductees, freed on 23 November, regained their liberty after President Tinubu personally prioritised the situation, cancelling his scheduled trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa to address the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi states.
He also revealed the president also ordered heightened security deployments to Kwara, reflecting his strong commitment to safeguarding citizens.
AbdulRazaq extended appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser; the Department of State Services (DSS); the Nigerian Army; the Nigeria Intelligence Agency; and the Nigeria Police, which deployed four new tactical teams to the state on the president’s instruction.
He further thanked security personnel across all agencies, thought leaders, religious institutions and Kwarans for their support and solidarity throughout the ordeal.
