Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has unveiled a new community-driven development framework aimed at promoting inclusive growth, regional stability, and sustainable development across Nigeria.
Speaking at the 8th Board Steering Committee Meeting of the Regional Stabilization Facility (Nigeria Window), organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Bagudu reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to strengthening local economies and improving livelihoods, particularly in post-conflict regions.
The minister praised the UNDP and other development partners for their continued collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s development agenda.
“I commend the UNDP for bringing us together for this important engagement,” Bagudu said. “I also extend my gratitude to all development partners for their unwavering support, which remains central to achieving tangible impact across Nigeria’s strategic priorities.”
Highlighting progress in livelihood restoration and stabilization efforts in the North-East, he said the government’s economic reforms have improved revenue generation across all levels, enabling better planning and service delivery.
Bagudu announced the launch of the Renewed Hope Ward-Based Development Plan, an initiative designed to map all 8,809 wards in Nigeria to identify specific needs and development opportunities.
“This plan enables Nigeria to better understand its resources and potentials, ensuring that interventions are deliberate, targeted, and sustainable,” he explained.
He further noted that the Federal Government is focusing on reducing investment risks and creating an enabling environment for private-sector growth, emphasizing that the administration’s approach is not reliant solely on external funding.
