President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep condolences over two separate tragic losses — the passing of Senator Abba Moro’s son and grandson, and the death of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Agunwa Anaekwe.
In a message to the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, who represents Benue South Senatorial District, the President commiserated with the lawmaker and his family over the deaths of his son, Victor Moro, and grandson, Abba Moro Jr.
He urged them to take solace in the short but impactful lives of the departed, noting that their time on earth was a blessing to those who knew them. President Tinubu prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family and for the repose of the souls of the departed.
In a separate statement, President Tinubu also mourned the passing of Chief Agunwa Anaekwe, former Speaker of the House of Representatives in the Third Republic, describing him as a courageous democrat, disciplined parliamentarian, and defender of democratic ideals.
Recalling their shared time in the National Assembly during the Third Republic, the President praised Chief Anaekwe’s leadership and resilience in opposing military dictatorship. He noted that the late statesman continued to contribute to nation-building even after the return of democracy, playing a pivotal role in the founding of the Action Congress (AC) in Anambra State in 2006 and serving as its first interim chairman.
President Tinubu extended his condolences to Chief Anaekwe’s family, the government, and the people of Anambra State, praying that God grants the deceased eternal rest and comforts all who mourn him.
