President Bola Tinubu has approved a two-year extension of the tenure of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. Abudulganiyu Adebomehin, effective from January 5, 2026.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the extension follows the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency.
The statement said the decision was made to enable Mr. Adebomehin to complete a series of reforms he initiated across critical sectors of Nigeria’s geospatial data systems.
President Tinubu, it added, expects the Surveyor-General to use the extended period to consolidate ongoing reforms in national land management and administration, highways and abutting land infrastructure coordination, reclamation and erosion control programmes, and other projects of strategic national importance.
Mr. Adebomehin was first appointed Surveyor-General of the Federation by former President Muhammadu Buhari on January 5, 2022.
