Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday led an array of dignitaries to pay glowing tributes to the late Deaconess Eno Nnana Usoro, mother of the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Ms. Emem Nnana Usoro, describing her as a woman whose life embodied faith, grace, and service to humanity.
Speaking at the funeral reception held at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the Vice President said the late matriarch’s life was a testimony to the power of prayer and the transformative influence of motherhood anchored in faith.
“The exemplary Ms. Emem Nnana Usoro is a daughter she couldn’t have been prouder of. She stands today as a symbol of a mother’s dream fulfilled — a story defined by sacrifice, prayer, and perseverance,” Shettima said.
The Vice President described Ms. Usoro’s rise to the position of CBN Deputy Governor as a reflection of her mother’s belief in excellence and refusal to settle for mediocrity.
“The height that Ms. Usoro has attained in public service tells the story of a mother who believed her child could compete with the best minds globally and still remain anchored in faith,” he added.
Shettima noted that beyond her family, the late Deaconess Usoro was a pillar in her church, a mentor to women, and a supporter of the less privileged, exemplifying humility and compassion in all her dealings.
“When we celebrate the late Deaconess Eno Nnana Usoro’s achievements, we are in truth celebrating the mother who shaped her character — the woman who toiled in silence, whose sacrifices were the scaffolds upon which destiny was built,” the Vice President said.
“Those who live in the service of others never truly die. They are resurrected in every act of goodness that continues in their name.”
