Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) to unite behind President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, urging northern leaders to resist attempts by “mischief makers” to sow division in the country.
Shettima made the appeal on Wednesday when he received a delegation from the ACF, led by its Board of Trustees Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Vice President said the time had come for the North to stand together in support of the Federal Government’s efforts to steer the nation out of its economic and social challenges.
“There is no better time than now for the leaders of the North to stand together as one,” Shettima said. “Security and stability require unity. We must resist those who seek to divide us or profit from chaos.”
Shettima noted that while some agitations across the country are driven by legitimate grievances, others are motivated by greed. He said the Tinubu administration is determined to distinguish between both, address genuine concerns, and isolate those exploiting disorder for selfish gains.
“Our diversity is our strength,” he added. “Our differences in tribe, faith, and geography are the very bricks that make this house of destiny we live in. Unity must remain our creed.”
The Vice President dismissed claims of marginalisation under President Tinubu’s administration, assuring that every community, faith, and ethnic group has a voice in national governance.
“No group will be marginalised,” he said. “Our policies are designed to create opportunities for all—to lift every community through inclusion, education, and enterprise.”
