The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated ten new Digital Learning Centres across ten states as part of efforts to expand digital literacy and inclusion among Nigerians, particularly women and youths.
The centres, established under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), are located in Abia, Delta, Edo, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ondo, Yobe, and Zamfara States.
Speaking during the virtual inauguration held at her office in Abuja, Senator Tinubu emphasized the importance of digital education in fostering national development and inclusive growth.
“I urge members of the beneficiary communities to make good use of these facilities to enhance learning, creativity, and entrepreneurship,” she said. “This will not only improve livelihoods but also contribute to national development.”
She noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes economic diversification through industrialization and digitalization.
“By providing communities with resources to develop ICT skills, we are empowering our people to participate meaningfully in the digital economy,” the First Lady added.
Tinubu also highlighted the potential of digital tools to transform sectors such as agriculture and petty trading, noting that digital adoption can boost productivity and ease of doing business.
In his remarks, the Director-General of NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, described digital transformation as a catalyst for economic diversification and inclusivity. “This signifies unlocking potential across various sectors, especially among women and youths,” Abdullahi said, commending RHI’s collaboration in driving national prosperity.
