President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with Nigeria’s newly appointed service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, following a sweeping shake-up of the nation’s military leadership.
The service chiefs arrived at about 4:20 p.m.
The meeting comes days after the President approved the replacement of the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, and the Chief of Air Staff — a move widely seen as part of efforts to strengthen national security and reposition the armed forces.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the new appointments are as follows:
General Olufemi Oluyede – Chief of Defence Staff
Major General W. Shaibu – Chief of Army Staff
Rear Admiral I. Abbas – Chief of Naval Staff
Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke – Chief of Air Staff
