President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian lawyer Tolu Obamuroh on his elevation to the partnership of White & Case LLP, one of the world’s leading international law firms headquartered in New York.
Obamuroh, who will assume his new role as a partner in the firm’s International Arbitration Practice in Paris effective January 1, 2026, joins a select group of only three new partners globally in this practice area. He is the only Nigerian-qualified lawyer among this year’s global partner class and the sole partner based in the firm’s Paris office, one of 46 offices worldwide.
With a distinguished career representing sovereigns and multinational corporations in high-value, cross-border disputes—particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors—Obamuroh has also served as a trusted adviser to the Government of Nigeria in several international arbitration matters under the supervision of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Obamuroh’s elevation as a reflection of Nigerian competence, resilience, and global excellence.
“Tolu’s success represents the best of Nigeria’s new generation of professionals who continue to distinguish themselves on the global stage,” the President said.
“His rise to partnership at one of the world’s most respected law firms stands as a powerful symbol of the Renewed Hope vision—a Nigeria whose citizens lead and excel across disciplines, defined by merit, integrity, and global impact.”
The President joined Obamuroh’s family, colleagues, and the wider legal community in celebrating the achievement, urging young Nigerians to draw inspiration from his journey.
“Tolu’s story is proof that with dedication, discipline, and service, young Nigerians can lead globally,” Tinubu added.
