They arrived at the NASS Complex around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, accompanied by other senior military officers.
The Senate had on Tuesday rescheduled the screening to Wednesday, October 29, reversing its earlier plan to hold the exercise next week.
The announcement followed a correspondence from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, requesting the confirmation of General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
Akpabio explained that the adjustment was to allow the new military chiefs to assume duty immediately in order to maintain momentum in the nation’s security operations.
President Tinubu had urged the Senate to expedite the confirmation process to ensure seamless coordination and continuity within the country’s defence architecture.
On October 24, Tinubu approved a reshuffle in the military hierarchy, appointing General Olufemi Oluyede as CDS, Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa and others.
