Commissioned in 1977, the Omu-Aran Waterworks serves the Omu-Aran community and several neighbouring towns. The rehabilitation project is expected to improve access to potable water and help reduce the spread of waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid.
The initiative is in line with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to revitalising the state’s water infrastructure. Over the past six years, his administration has embarked on the rehabilitation of several waterworks across Kwara, addressing years of potable water scarcity and reducing residents’ dependence on unsafe water sources.
During an inspection visit, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti Akolade Agboluaje, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the site.
He commended Governor AbdulRazaq for the intervention, describing it as a timely project that would significantly enhance the living conditions of the people.
Residents of Omu-Aran also lauded the ongoing rehabilitation, describing it as a “lifesaver” that would bring an end to the prolonged struggle for clean water in the area.
