Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has credited President Bola Tinubu’s bold policies for fostering market stability and empowering women, saying the Renewed Hope agenda is becoming a reality after two years of citizens’ patience.
Speaking on Thursday at the 25th anniversary of the National Women’s Conference, organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) in Victoria Island, Lagos, Sanwo-Olu, represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, highlighted the tangible benefits of the Federal Government’s reforms.
“We have seen this in falling market prices, the stability of the foreign exchange market, and students having unhindered access to funds for school fees,” he said, noting that these policies are beginning to yield real results for Nigerians.
He urged the women attending the conference to share the message that the Renewed Hope promised by President Tinubu is becoming a reality, reflecting the positive changes across the country.
Describing the silver jubilee edition of the National Women’s Conference as remarkable, Sanwo-Olu said: “Over the past few days, we have not only celebrated a legacy — we have renewed a movement. My heart is filled with immense pride and gratitude.”
The governor also praised the vision of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for revitalising COWLSO, and lauded the ongoing contributions of his wife, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu. “What began as a gathering of women with shared values has become a force that uplifts families, transforms communities, and shapes policy conversations across Nigeria,” he added.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted the empowerment initiatives presented at the conference, including collaborations that provided POS machines and seed support for women entrepreneurs. He said such measures demonstrate that “empowerment can take many forms, and generosity, when guided by compassion, creates lasting impact.”
In her remarks, the First Lady of Lagos and COWLSO Chairperson, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, said women are discovering new ways to thrive under the state’s THEMES Plus agenda. She also praised Senator Oluremi Tinubu, saying the Renewed Hope Initiative “continues to illuminate paths for countless women and families across the world.”
