Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday received 23 abductees rescued by the Nigerian Army, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies for their coordinated efforts.
The governor, who addressed the victims at the 22 Armoured Brigade Headquarters in Sobi, Ilorin, congratulated them on their freedom and assured them of the government’s support in their rehabilitation and reintegration.
AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the Armed Forces and the medical team that provided care to the victims after their rescue, noting that the operation demonstrated effective collaboration among security agencies.
“We thank God that you were all freed following the pressure from the security forces. We appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Army for their commitment to restoring peace,” he said.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s determination to make Kwara unsafe for criminal elements, declaring that kidnappers and bandits have “no place in the state.”
AbdulRazaq also commended the new Brigade Commander and his troops for their swift deployment and proactive measures to secure communities across the state.
Brigadier General Rume, who handed over the rescued victims, acknowledged the support of the state government and pledged to sustain military pressure on criminal gangs operating within and around Kwara.
One of the rescued victims, Pastor Obafemi, described his experience in captivity as traumatic and thanked the government and security agencies for ensuring their safe release.
