Not every entry into music results in wealth, fame, or cheering fans. For Jim Iyke, it ended with an important lesson one he believes God used to humble him.
Speaking about his brief time in the music industry, the veteran actor admitted it was never driven by passion but by a daring phase of life.
“Doing music was a regrettable experience; not in a bitter way, but in a humbling one. At that point in my life, it was just fun. 2Baba and I had a great time with it. For me, it was a dare, a phase when I thought I could do anything,” Iyke confessed.
He noted that although the excitement of recording and performing was real, it wasn’t sustainable, and chasing it blindly might have left him struggling.
“I could have built a career from it, but I would have ended up as one of those mediocre acts still stumbling along because their early hits were just good enough to keep them afloat. That’s not me. I know my limits,” he said.
Still, Iyke stressed that the journey wasn’t a waste. According to him, it offered fresh insights and made him value his true calling even more.
“I don’t live with regrets though; only lessons and triumphs. Music gave me a glimpse into another world, and I enjoyed it. But when the fever calmed, I knew it was time to return to what I did best,” he added.
