The Federal High Court in Abuja has rescheduled the arraignment of MTN Nigeria’s Managing Director and Chief Executive, Karl Toriola, along with three other top executives, to October 30.

Named alongside Toriola in the charge filed by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) are MTN’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Tobechukwu Okigbo, and General Manager of Regulatory Affairs, Ikenna Ikeme.

The executives are accused of breaching the FCCPC Act by allegedly failing to provide documents and information requested under a lawful summons issued by the commission.

Their arraignment, originally slated for yesterday, could not proceed due to the absence of Justice Hauwa Yilwa, who was reportedly engaged in another duty. Following discussions among the parties, the court agreed to reschedule the proceedings to October 30.

During the last adjourned hearing, FCCPC’s counsel, Nsitem Chizenum, alleged that the defendants had evaded service of the court documents, claiming that attempts to effect service on them were unsuccessful.
