The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, has dismissed a 48-hour ultimatum from the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, over the chieftaincy title conferred on Ibadan businessman Chief Dotun Sanusi.
In a statement, the Ooni’s spokesperson, Moses Olafare, called the ultimatum an “empty threat,” saying:
“My Principal has directed me against issuing a Press Release on the Empty Threat of the Alawada Babasala… 48 Hours? My Foot!!!”
Olafare further stated, “Let’s rather focus on narratives that unite us rather than the ones capable of dividing us. No Press Release please (sic) 48 Hours My Foot!!!”
The clash underscores the ongoing rivalry between the two Yoruba monarchs over the authority to confer titles across Yorubaland.

The couple reflected on the criticism they faced in person when they first started dating but noted that the online harassment has been far more intense.
Nkubi’s wife, who mentioned their plans to have at least one more child, added that she avoids reading comments to maintain her mental well-being.
“We wan give our pikin a bright future, we want to make people know her, I don’t want the situation to catch her unaware. Social media dey amplify both judgment and hatred. The bullying has been ongoing since we started dating. Some people would taunt us when they see us together, but online bullying is much. To protect my mental health, I avoid the comment section. She is a blessing to the family; she turned our family around,” Nkubi and his wife said.
