The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has debunked rumours of its Managing Director, Ali Nuhu’s death.
The speculation began after Facebook user Ifeoma Chigbo shared a video suggesting the actor had died, followed by another claim of a fatal car crash.
In a statement, NFC’s Public Affairs Director, Brian Etuk, dismissed the reports as “false and malicious,” confirming Nuhu is alive and active.
The corporation added that actions will be taken against those spreading the misinformation.
“The attention of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has been drawn to the purported passing of Dr. Ali Nuhu, its current Managing Director/Chief Executive, being orchestrated within the social media space; and wishes to officially and unambiguously inform the general public that the reports, including videos laced with the pictures of Dr. Ali Nuhu, are not only malicious and injurious but false in their entirety,” the statement reads.
“Dr. Ali Nuhu is alive, well, and discharging the responsibilities of the office of NFC’s Chief Executive, having been appointed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) on February 12, 2024.”
“NFC wishes to draw the attention of perpetrators of these uncouth and dastardly acts, including their sponsors, to the dire and unmistakable consequences of their actions, no matter the innocuousness of their intent,” the statement added.
“Meanwhile, appropriate measures have been initiated to arrest this ugly, baleful, and unsatisfactory conduct and trend.
“NFC appreciates the genuine concerns expressed by the general public, private, and public sector stakeholders as a result of the above,” the statement read.
In other news….. Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), on Monday led a protest in Auchi, Edo State, blocking Dangote trucks from operating in the area until the company takes responsibility for accident victims.
VDM, joined by students of Auchi Polytechnic, demanded justice for Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of BBNaija winner Phyna, who recently had her leg amputated after being crushed by a Dangote truck shortly after her graduation. Addressing the crowd, he insisted that the company must not only pay Ruth’s medical bills but also compensate other victims of similar incidents.
The protest followed another tragic crash in Auchi a day earlier, where three people lost their lives near Omega Fire Ministry after a Dangote truck collided with another vehicle and rammed into a Mercedes Benz GLK.
Reacting to the accident, Apostle Johnson Suleman, General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, condemned the reckless driving, describing the deaths as “an avoidable loss of lives.”
VDM, angered by the repeated tragedies, declared that Dangote trucks would not be allowed to ply Auchi roads until victims receive justice and full compensation.
