The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on Thursday that they are looking for businessman Abdullahi Bashir Haske, who is the son-in-law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The anti-corruption agency released a public notice through its official X (formerly Twitter) account, signed by Dele Oyewale, who heads their Media and Publicity department. According to the announcement, the 38-year-old businessman is being sought in connection with allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
The EFCC’s declaration means that Haske is now officially considered a person of interest in what appears to be a financial crimes investigation, though specific details about the case have not been disclosed in the public notice.
“The public is hereby notified that Abdullahi Bashir Haske, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the EFCC in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering,” the notice read.

- Haske received significant support from the late Maikantu Baru, former Group Managing Director of NNPCL, who helped establish him as a major billionaire player in Nigeria’s oil industry. After Baru’s passing, he maintained strong backing from Mele Kyari, the previous GMD of NNPCL.
