Nigerian music icon, Peter Okoye of the defunct Psquare group, ushered in the new month with a heartfelt prayer for his fans though not without stirring controversy.
In a video posted on his Instagram page showcasing the luxurious interior of his home, the singer subtly took a dig at his elder brother, Jude Okoye.
Sharing the clip, Peter wrote:
“I pray for this type of ‘broke or brokenness’ to locate you in Jesus’ name: Say a big Amen in the comment section. Happy New Month
The post, which also tagged an interior decor company, @tomcdurf_homes_and_interiors, appeared to mock recent claims made by Jude regarding financial success and family loyalty.
Peter’s message sparked reactions online, with fans noting the thinly veiled shade while others praised his elegant home and inspiring declaration.

In related news, Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, formerly of the iconic music duo P-Square, has fired back at his elder brother Jude Okoye over controversial remarks about former artists who parted ways with his record label.
Jude recently took to Instagram on Saturday, June 28, 2025, claiming that artists who left his label including Peter only achieved success due to his backing, but eventually struggled due to greed.
In a fiery response shared via his own Instagram page on Monday, June 30, 2025, Peter dismissed Jude’s claims, insisting that respect must be earned and not automatically granted based on age. He emphasized that Jude had never acted like a supportive elder brother, but rather served in a paid capacity as P-Square’s manager, like others before him, until he was relieved of his duties.
Peter also revisited a troubling episode where Jude allegedly made statements to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which he says led to his own arrest and time in detention. According to Peter, that betrayal marked a turning point.
He went on to reveal that since going solo, his career has brought him more financial gain and personal peace than during his years with the now-defunct group.
He wrote, “JUST because you’re older doesn’t mean you deserve respect. Respect is earned, not given. Calling me broke or wishing I were broke has been your wish. These are the exact same words you told the EFCC officials. And you ended up getting locked up in prison. Of course, again, you have to come up with another narrative, “Broke” Let’s set the record straight: you were shouldering who? Maybe them, but not me. Agbaya, you were employed as a manager by Peter and Paul PSQUARE, and you got sacked, just like the other 2 managers before you. Period!
“I understand this may not sit well with some people, but truth be told, aside from my businesses, what I now earn on my own as a solo artiste is more than what I used to earn after splitting three ways as PSQUARE, plus the so-called manager. I am talking about both shows and endorsements. It really makes me question the point of sharing with people who stole from you, betrayed you, and still discriminate against your efforts!?
“This solo journey has been a blessing more rewarding and profitable, financially and personally, no doubt. And it has also brought peace of mind. And if you don’t relate or it doesn’t make sense to you, no worries it’s not meant to. But I am grateful. But again, despite being in court!
