Residents say the company, known for its aggressive real estate marketing across Nigeria, has fenced large portions of their land and brought in heavy machinery, including caterpillars, to begin excavation ignoring a subsisting court order barring any such activity.

Residents of Ayegun Oleyo, a community in Ibadan, Oyo State, have accused real estate giant, Adron Homes and Properties, of forcefully seizing their ancestral land and defying a valid court injunction restraining any development on the disputed property.

In a video seen one of the aggrieved residents alleged that the company, backed by armed thugs and police officers, stormed their community to begin illegal construction and sand excavation despite ongoing litigation over the land.

“We did not sell any land to Adron,” the resident declared.

“We are the rightful owners of Agbaoke, Igbo Olowo. We told him (Adron’s own) but he did not listen. Instead, he brought hooligans. They came with guns and other weapons. Maybe they wanted to kill us.”

“There is an injunction stopping them from touching the land,” another resident said.

“But they keep coming, using thugs and even some compromised police officers to intimidate us. We are living in fear in our own land.”

Residents are now calling on Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State Government to intervene before the situation escalates into violence.

“On Wednesday, SaharaReporters published a report alleging that the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Police have been protecting a powerful syndicate of land grabbers, despite a 2024 directive from the Lagos Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) recommending criminal charges over the unlawful seizure of property valued at over N1.2 billion.”

exclusively, a Legal Advice issued by the Lagos DPP, which established a prima facie case against six suspects for offences including conspiracy to commit felony, theft, forcible entry, and criminal property damage.

Yet, several months later, no charges have been filed, no arrests made, and the alleged landgrabbers continue to profit from the seized land while reportedly issuing death threats to the rightful owners.

One of the victims, who spoke to Reporters, accused the Lagos State Government and the police of complicity and corruption.

“The land is in Egbeda area. The land is two acres. We have a building on it. We have been there for the past 40 years. So it was the police and the armed thugs that the landgrabber used. He used some bad eggs of the police,” the victim said.

“They have built nine shops besides our building now. And they have rented it out, and they have taken over close to seven plots of land from the two acres.

The source noted that the land in question is worth almost N1.2billion.
