Reality TV star and actress Erica Nlewedim has once again become the center of online discussions, this time due to her apparent difficulty speaking the Igbo language her native tongue.
A video recently surfaced online showing Erica with friends during a casual outing. In the clip, she is seen attempting to speak Igbo but struggling with pronunciation, prompting those around her to correct her.
The footage quickly went viral, triggering widespread commentary and criticism on various social media platforms.
Erica, whose full name is Nlewedim Ngozi Ugomma Erica, hails from Umuahia in Abia State, southeastern Nigeria. Despite her roots, many viewers were surprised by her lack of fluency in the language.
She completed her secondary education at Victory Grammar School in Lagos before transferring to Command Secondary School in Ikeja. She later earned a degree in Business Administration from Covenant University in Ogun State.
Interestingly, a resurfaced interview she once gave to BBC Igbo showed her making an effort to speak the language while introducing herself and sharing details about her upbringing.
The contrast between her past interview and the recent viral clip has left fans and social media users questioning her current level of comfort and ability in speaking Igbo.
