Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, has vowed to stand against the rigging of elections and oppose bad governance.
Atiku made the vow in a post he shared on his official X account on Saturday, even as Nigeria prepares for another election in 2027.
“Yesterday, I vowed to stand against the stealing of elections and oppose bad governance. I made the pledge while receiving a delegation of Gombe stakeholders led by former Minister and Senator Idris Abdullahi,” Atiku wrote.
“I stressed that enough is enough, and that Nigerians cannot continue to suffer amidst an abundance of resources owing to bad governance.”
The 2023 presidential flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) expressed confidence in the efforts of opposition parties collaborating under the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition, which he said was focused on improving governance outcomes.
Atiku said the coalition of opposition leaders under the umbrella of the ADC would work assiduously to usher in a positive change that will transform the lives of Nigerians.
He said the quality of the interim leadership shows that the coalition of political parties is ready to bring integrity to the process and give Nigerians the responsible leadership they deserve.
“I am further inspired by the Gombe stakeholders’ pledge of total support and loyalty to the decision of the coalition by joining the ADC,” Atiku added.
“The group reminded me that I laid the foundation for the development of Gombe when I supported the election of Danjuma Goje as governor in 2003.”
