Veteran Nollywood actress Stella Damasus and her ex-husband, filmmaker Daniel Ademinokan, have returned to the spotlight after a 2023 interview resurfaced online. In the interview, Damasus made a shocking claim she discovered her marriage had ended via a YouTube video, without any prior communication from her then-husband.
Speaking during an appearance on The Teju Babyface Show, Stella recounted how she was caught off guard by the breakup.
“A lot of things were said about me on YouTube because that is how I found out my marriage had ended. I didn’t know that my marriage had ended,” she said, adding that concerned friends had to call her and urge her to check the video platform for answers.
Her emotional confession quickly went viral, stirring renewed public attention and prompting a reaction from her ex-husband, who had largely remained silent on their split until now.
In a series of Instagram stories, Daniel Ademinokan strongly denied Stella’s version of events, labeling it as misleading. He claimed he had stayed quiet for the sake of privacy but could no longer ignore what he described as “lies.”
To support his claims, he shared a screenshot of an email allegedly sent by Stella on July 20, 2021, where she asked for an address to send divorce documents contradicting her claim of being blindsided.
Ademinokan also revealed that his decision to leave the marriage wasn’t sudden, but based on concerns for his mental well-being and the safety of his son. He made a disturbing allegation that his son had suffered physical abuse during the marriage and once wore makeup to school to hide injuries.
