  • Gideon Okeke has expressed concerns about inconsistencies in firearm regulations in Nigeria.
  • He highlighted a double standard in the treatment of different groups regarding weapon possession.
  • Cattle herders are allowed to carry machetes and cutlasses for self-defense without facing legal repercussions.

Nigerian actor Gideon Okeke has raised concerns about what he sees as inconsistencies in the country’s firearm regulations.

Okeke pointed out the double standard in how different groups are treated when it comes to carrying weapons. He noted that cattle herders often move around with machetes and cutlasses for self-defense without facing legal consequences, while individuals like Pastor Paul Adefarasin come under scrutiny for possessing weapons.

The actor questioned why herders appear to be exempt from enforcement, asking whether the law applies equally to all Nigerians. His comments bring attention to broader debates about fairness and selective justice in the country’s legal system.

He wrote: “Why does a cattle herdsman get a pass to carry machetes, daggers and charms openly. I mean roamimg freely infront of police sef, for the protection of their lives and property.

Cattle rearer and pastor…are they not equal citizens”
