The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially confirmed the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as its National Chairman.
On Friday, the former two-term governor of Kano State stepped down from his position, citing “a need to attend to his health” as the reason for his resignation.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, confirmed Ganduje’s resignation in a statement released on Friday night.
Morka explained that the resignation was to allow the former chairman focus on “urgent and important” personal matters and takes effect “immediately.”
Ganduje’s resignation letter was submitted to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) through the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru.
Morka also announced that Ali Dalori, APC’s Deputy National Chairman (North), has been directed to assume the role of “Acting National Chairman, pending the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) in December.”
This, he noted, is intended to “immediately fill the vacancy created by Ganduje’s resignation.”
Morka commended Ganduje for “his invaluable contributions and distinguished record of service to the party.”
The statement read, “Throughout his tenure, he dedicated himself to strengthening the party’s unity and cohesion, expounding its democratic ideals and enhancing the party’s electoral competitiveness.”
“The confidence placed in him by the party’s NEC and national caucus meetings in February 2025 was a profound recognition and honour for his service.
“He leaves his position as National Chairman with great pride in our collective achievements, including successful defections from opposition parties and legal affirmations of our party leadership’s legitimacy.”
Morka assured members that the APC remains “steadfast and unwavering in its mission to deliver transformative governance for all Nigerians, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Ganduje assumed office as APC National Chairman in “August 2023,” following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu.
