Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has reacted to a disturbing viral video showing a woman physically assaulting a young girl in what appears to be a domestic incident in Lagos State.
In the footage, the woman is seen beating the child over broken plates, violently slamming her to the ground, punching her, and flogging her repeatedly as the little girl cried out in pain.
Condemning the act, Gwamnishu expressed deep concern and announced that his team would be visiting the home to assess the child’s condition and determine if she sustained any injuries. He also confirmed plans to file a formal report with the police.
‘’We have what they call the child’s right act. I believe every parent should just get a copy of it so you would know some of the offences you commit at home that you may not know. Ignorance of the law is not n excuse.
This is not discipline. It is beyond discipline. I know everybody wants to have a child who will be submissive, respectful and all but please do not treat a child this way. Your child, someone else’s child or anybody’s child” he said
The video has sparked outrage across social media, with many calling for authorities to take swift action to protect the child and hold the woman accountable.
