The sex trafficking trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has taken a shocking turn, as federal prosecutors presented disturbing claims about the rapper’s treatment of his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.
During opening arguments on May 12, Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson alleged that Diddy once forced a male escort to urinate in Cassie’s mouth during one of his notorious private gatherings, which prosecutors referred to as “freak offs.” These events reportedly involved hired escorts and coerced participants in orchestrated sexual acts.
Johnson described the incident as deeply degrading, noting that Cassie allegedly felt like she was choking during the act. The prosecution also brought up a 2016 surveillance video that appears to show Diddy physically assaulting Cassie in a hotel hallway.
Testifying in court, male escort Daniel Phillip said he was frequently hired to have sex with Cassie and received up to $6,000 per encounter. He testified that Diddy often directed or filmed the interactions. Phillip further claimed that Cassie requested him to urinate on her but that both she and Diddy corrected his actions when he did it “wrong,” adding that he feared Diddy’s influence and power.
These explosive testimonies come as part of a broader federal case, where Diddy faces multiple serious charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Diddy’s defense has stated they will argue that the relationship between him and Cassie included mutual acts of violence and that she was not coerced. Cassie is expected to testify later in the trial.
The charges carry serious consequences: the racketeering count alone could result in a life sentence, while a conviction for sex trafficking carries a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison. The rapper has also been accused of sexually abusing more than 100 individuals, including minors.
The trial continues in the Southern District of New York.
