  • Actress Mary Remy Njoku has advocated for the discontinuation of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB.
  • The actress questioned the relevance of JAMB and why students cannot use their Senior School Certificate Examination SSCE results for tertiary institution admission.

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Remy Njoku has sparked debate after calling for the scrapping of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Nigeria’s central body for tertiary education admissions.

In a social media post, Njoku questioned the relevance of JAMB and asked why students cannot simply use their Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results to gain admission into universities or other tertiary institutions.

The actress recounted her own negative experience with JAMB, revealing that the exam nearly blocked her from attending the institution of her choice. She noted that the setback eventually led her into acting — a career path she’s now grateful for.

Her comments have fueled a growing conversation about the effectiveness and necessity of standardized admission exams in Nigeria.

In other news, Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, recently paid a visit to fellow artist Dapo Oyebanjo, also known as Dbanj, accompanied by his wife, Hon. Natasha Osawaru

A video circulating online captured the moment the couple arrived at what appeared to be Dbanj’s residence. The atmosphere was lively, with Dbanj turning up the volume and dancing energetically as he welcomed 2Baba.

2Baba soon joined in the fun, showcasing his dance moves before breaking into song. While the two artists enjoyed their moment, Hon. Natasha remained near the entrance, with many online noting that Dbanj had yet to acknowledge her presence at the time.
