The couple tied the knot on May 17, 2025. Asika, who previously dated Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy and also the daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, appears to have maintained a pattern of dating women from influential backgrounds.
Following the wedding, a Facebook user named Taiye Jiboluwa offered a controversial opinion on social media. Jiboluwa commented on what he sees as a trend of Igbo men, like Asika, aligning themselves with affluent Yoruba families through romantic relationships.
He suggested that Asika’s lack of a formal university degree did not prevent him from marrying Leona, a highly educated woman with a master’s degree from a prestigious UK university. According to Jiboluwa, this reflects a broader trend of strategic positioning by some Igbo men within powerful Yoruba households, while the women involved seem captivated by the celebrity status of their partners.
Jiboluwa concluded his post by cautioning the Yoruba community to take note, drawing a parallel to how Jewish billionaires are typically cautious about whom their children marry, particularly when it comes to preserving cultural and social heritage.
