The singer and rapper sparked widespread outrage on social media after he claimed to have had sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl, a statement that quickly drew criticism and calls for his arrest.
Reports from GistLover revealed that in response to the viral clip, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) announced they were investigating the matter. The DSVA confirmed it had escalated the issue to NAPTIP for further action.
In a recent video, Speed Darlington explained that his controversial confession was a deliberate tactic to attract attention.
He stated, “I am an artist. In this industry, controversy sells. If you’re not trending, you don’t get booked. You have to be controversial. That was the strategy behind the video — I was marketing myself.”
Despite his explanation, Speed Darlington apologized to his fans for the distress caused by his comments.
