Nigerian comedian and popular skit maker, Zicsaloma, has addressed speculation suggesting he is a crossdresser, making it clear that his depiction of women in his comedy is strictly for entertainment and not a reflection of his personal life.
In a recent interview, Zicsaloma—who recently underwent a nose surgery and facial enhancement procedure in Turkey—firmly dismissed claims that he engages in or promotes crossdressing beyond his content.
He explained that dressing as a woman is a comedic choice, similar to how some performers adopt distinct cultural personas for humor. He stressed that this form of character portrayal should not be mistaken for advocacy or a personal lifestyle.
“I am not a crossdresser; I only dress like women for content. I don’t even wear makeup—not that I can’t do comedy without it. Mimicking females is my comic strength,” Zicsaloma stated.
He further challenged those linking his skits to the actions of known crossdressers, asking, “There are people who are good at mimicking different characters, like a typical Hausa man. Are you saying I influenced popular crossdressers—I don’t want to mention names—who heavily dress as women to events in gowns?”
